Please share this post and get your local MP to sign the motion.
A year ago this week six recipients from all corners of the globe, along with their families, met in San Francisco, and Washington DC to receive the 2015 Goldman prize.
This brings back great memories but also great sadness that of the those six only five survive today. Berta Cáceras from Honduras was murdered on the 3rd of March. Initially there was despair and a feeling of helplessness followed by a determination to ensure that we in the UK do all we can to try to
stop the murder of human rights and environmental campaigners in Honduras. Everyone in the UK can help in a small way. You can check to see if your constituency MP has signed this Early Day Motion at Westminster. If they haven't, send them an e-mail or tweet asking them to do so. If they have you could also send them an e-mail or tweet thanking them for doing so. The UK Government needs to join other countries in publicly denouncing these murders and pressuring the Honduran President to a proper independent enquiry.
There are 650 MPs at Westminster, surely we can get at least 10% of them to sign this motion.
Party politics should not come into this issue, it's about basic human rights. The EDM has been primary sponsored by Patricia Gibson because she is my constituency MP.
Thank you in advance
